Christmas anxiety is often associated with an inability to stand back and ensure you are choosing Christmas on your terms.

Whenever you find yourself using the terms ‘should, ought or must’ in relation to Christmas activities, question whose expectations are you adhering to. There is no definitive guide as to how we should celebrate, prepare or spend money?at Christmas or any other celebration.? Social and cultural expectations influence our choices and decisions and often cause much anxiety if out of line with our own values.? It is the lack of alignment that often causes anxiety, especially if you are not speaking up and acting in accordance with your own beliefs.

Decide how you would like to spend the holiday season, questioning when you fall into unquestioned assumptions of how you should respond to Christmas or any other social or cultural event.
