Psychological Services In Sydney – Frequently Asked Questions

How much do you charge for individual sessions?
In order to find the best solution for you, I conduct an initial 1 hour consultation. This explores the nature of your problem and identifies specifically the changes you want in your life, beyond being free of the symptoms you present. After the 1 hour, we spend 30 mins discussing the different options to get you unstuck. The cost of this initial 1.5 hour in-depth session is $250.00 (no GST applies). Future costs depend on the particular package that is tailored for you. However this 1.5 hour session will provide you with immediate tools and a strategy to get the results you want.

How do I know if I definitely need to see a psychologist on a 1:1 basis?
If you have been suffering practical or emotional problems that you simply can’t resolve, you probably need to get specialist help. If you find yourself repeating a certain pattern at work or in personal relationships that causes you problems, you probably need help to find out the real drivers for this behaviour. A 1:1 counselling relationship allows you to explore your challenges and provides you with strategies and techniques to overcome your difficulties

Do you do relationship and couples interventions?
I see couples for an initial 1.5 hour diagnostic session. After this time, we spend 30 – 60 mins exploring a particular package that will work for them. This initial session costs $280.00 (no GST) and provides valuable tools for use right away as well as a strategy for moving forward.

Can I apply for Medicare Rebates on my work with you?
I no longer work under the Medicare Rebate Scheme but many psychologists do. The most important thing is that you find an intervention that works for you and often investing in your development out of your own money, greatly enhances the speed of your development. It not only sends you and others a powerful message that you want to invest in yourself but it also allows you to make your teachers accountable in terms of the outcomes you achieve.

Do you use CBT?
In my communication programmes, I use a number of strategies to get people unstuck. I integrate a variety of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) methods to maximise personal change. CBT is used as an effective tool to assist you in changing your thoughts which directly affect your emotions. CBT can be very effective in the treatment of depression when used in conjunction with exploring ways in which your depression has developed.

Whatever your problem, a solution can be found. Often people are mildly depressed because they lack meaning and purpose or the skills to navigate life and relationships successfully. This is where my communicate programmes combine a combination of personal development and skills practice to ensure lasting change.
