Feeling Depressed – What now?
When someone is depressed, their apathy and disinterest in life often escalates, resulting in becoming so stuck that they cannot access the resources to move forward.? The individual may lose sight of who they are, not recognising themselves and therefore are unable to seek help from loved ones or those they fear will trivialise or criticise their condition.? The cycle continues, increasing the depressed individual’s sense of isolation and desperation.
In working with depression, I always ask my clients ‘When did you choose to forget the solution to your problem?’ This does mean they consciously choose their depression; instead it speaks to a part of them that unconsciously serves them not facing important questions of what they want and know their life should be about.
