Is time management the way to get stress relief?

Time management is often promoted as the answer to stress relief in the workplace. Whilst helpful if you are clear about your goals, it can be a temporary solution to stress reduction.

In some instances, time management could increase stress and anxiety if used without a clear understanding of your own personal style and motivations. For example, are you a ’starter’ or ‘finisher’?

If your creative juices get going with new visionary ideas, time management might hamper this and reduce the size or extent of the creative response.  As a ’starter’ teaming up with people who love deadlines, delivery and completion might be a better answer than slavish adherence to time management.

If you derive satisfaction from a ‘job well done’ and ‘completed, you might benefit from teaming up with people who will complement your abilities – with more achieved for everyone!

Recognise your uniqueness – in life, not ‘one size fits’ all works.  The clearer you are about who you are, what you want and how you operate, stress reduction will result.

Remember this also applies as much to families and relationships as to  work.
